Congratulations to our Win, Place, Show and all of our players...you win literally nothing but hey, at least you had something to do over the last 13 weeks.

From the early days on campus, to sequestered in our homes while the world is gripped by a deadly virus, Washington Squares has brought endless amusement to us, even if it hasn't to any of you. We thank those of you who participated throughout the last 30 games, or even watched and enjoyed from afar. We hope you learned something - even if it was "how to enter text into Google".

As previously noted, the game may return during the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic...you know, if we can ever get out of the first wave.  As for now, Tracy is really busy watching every season of the original Law and Order, and Melissa is really busy slathering herself in sunscreen every time she goes outside, so we'll have to see what happens as the summer goes on.

And you have our contact info, so just, like, let us know if you want us to make up a game just for you to keep your brain sharp.

Until we meet again,
Washington Squares Staff

Game #30 Results

As some of you may know, our friendship began as classmates and members of our award-winning collegiate a cappella group at Syracuse University.  But our friendship truly blossomed as fans of a little show called American Idol.  Ooh-whoa-ooh-whoa-ooh!

Also, we both teach musicals.

So with apologies to Diana DeGarmo (who Melissa didn't think was as much of a 'household name' as the others)...

Game #24 Results

Game #24 Answer:  Prehistoric Reptiles That Were NOT Classified As Dinosaurs

1. Elasmosaurus - Cretaceous reptile
2. Desmatosuchus - Triassic reptile
3. Kronosaurus - Cretaceous reptile
4. Dimorphodon - Jurassic reptile
5. Euparkeria - Triassic reptile
6. Lotosaurus - Triassic reptile
7. Deinosuchus - Cretaceous reptile
8. Gracilisuchus - Triassic reptile
9. Liopleurodon - Jurassic reptile

Game #24 Results:
Julie Osborne - 1
Kristen Meiss - 1

Valiant Effort: chosen by Jamie

Sarah Cronin - Obviously these are dinosaurs but there's got to be something more and I am not a dino expert. If this would have been characters in the Netflix cartoon "Trolls: The Beat Goes On"  I would have NAILED it.  But without cheating, my guess is that they are all herbivores. (Jamie also thought this was a funny answer, but since Sarah didn't research he said it was a very good guess.)

Merideth MacLain - Dinosaurs that all resemble Alligators or Crocodiles (Jamie said Merideth should have used the term "crocodilians'' because crocodiles and alligators didn't exist when dinosaurs were alive. Then he started to explain the differences and I told him to go eat his yogurt...)

Funniest Answers: chosen by Jamie

Jenn Bee (both answers earned this award, and the second one was Jamie's #1 favorite funny answer)
- Prehistoric creatures that a 5 year old knows more about than almost every adult on the planet.
*- Names of creatures that sound like they could be real, but also sound like they could be fake, so you need to google them.

Moni Haley - The last set of Greek dinosaurs before Trump killed us all.

Courtney Perrone - A puzzle created by an insanely adorable and brainiac little boy about class reptilia dinosaurs?

Ryan Lilly (all 3 answers earned this award)
- Medicines Donald Trump has taken without advice from doctors
- Words in spelling bees that have made 3rd graders cry.
- ... ... ... ... ... Dinosaurs??? I feel like I should have a much better answers than dinosaurs but I'm just gonna throw a 3.5 foot hail mary here.

Along with Julie's right answer she also said the following: "Lowkey, actually learned a lot of information. A Kronosaurus must have been a badass to be named after the titan Kronos. Does Jamie have a favorite one?"

Jamie says his favorite one on this list is Gracilisuchus.

Thanks for being so supportive of our newest WS staff member! Jamie loved being included in the game and was so excited that a few people got it right. He also liked reading all the funny and "not quite right" answers. Maybe he'll think of another game soon!

Game #14 Results:  NO POINTS FOR YOU!
No one actually got it right, even though a few were close. We debated giving some points, we both changed our opinion at one point but could never quite agree. So we've decided that our misery is your misery.

Valiant Effort(s):  Julie Osborne, Kristen Meiss and Nicole Vanderlinde who, if we combined their answers, would have hit all 3 key words - Melissa, Tracy, and Quarantine

Matt Thomas - Best Sellers on Amazon

Funniest Answer(s): Ryan Lilly - Murder items mentioned in deleted verses and choruses of Goodbye Earl by the Dixie Chicks

Dan Press - Serial Killer's Walmart Shopping Cart

Nicole Vanderlinde - Items That Karen Forced Target To Take As Returns Even Though They Were Clearly Bought On Amazon And That Bitch Didn't Even Have A Receipt

Merideth MacLain- Starter Kit When Working From Home During COVID-19 (The duct tape must come into play if you have annoying children and/or spouses at home.)

Game #14

Game #14

The Washington Squares staff has decided that we underestimated many of you. We were expecting lots of wrong answers for the past two weekend games. Congrats to you all. Shame on us.

Let's see what kind of fun we have with this one...
